SEPA – Single Euro Payments Area

Ziraat Bank erases borders in payments - thanks to SEPA, you make incoming and outgoing payments euros easily and safely, while we constantly work to make your experience even better.

What is SEPA?

SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) is a European Union initiative that enables cashless payments in euros to be made quickly, securely and under equal conditions in all member states.

Why is it important?

  • Simpler and faster payments in euros
  • Lower costs compared to international transfers
  • Uniform standards for all banks in the SEPA zone
  • Greater transparency and security of transactions

Which countries are covered? SEPA covers all European Union countries, as well as additional countries that have joined this system:

  • European Economic Area (EEA/EFTA) countries – Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway
  • Other European countries and microstates: Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino, Andorra, Vatican City, United Kingdom (including Gibraltar), British Crown Dependencies (Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man), Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia (from May 2026)

How does it work?

  • Payments are made using IBAN number and BIC/SWIFT code.
  • Standardized formats and rules make the process simpler for citizens and companies

Benefits for Bank clients

  • Faster and safer transfers in euros (money arrives the same working day or tomorrow)
  • Lower costs for international payments (free transactions up to 200 euros for the first payment by an individual during the day, up to 6 times more favorable fees for both inflows and outflows)
  • Easier business with partners abroad

SEPA makes Europe a single payments area, allowing you to send and receive payments in euros just as easily as in your own country.
